Master Your Energy
To accomplish something requires that energy is expended. Better energy leads to better decision making and productivity. Physical health is related to many things, but largely it is reduced to movement and nourishment.
Movement actually creates happiness. Emotions are of the body and played out in the theater of our mind. Any kind of movement is good, and you should do the kind that brings the most enjoyment and benefit to you. You can start with only 20 minutes a day, and then increase it as you feel you want to.
While there are many views on what is healthy eating. Chinese food has a good approach. Their diet is rich in vegetables, herbs and spices. They mix in protein with each meal and they are relatively low on grains and carbohydrates. They treat their food as medicine.
A balanced mind is your ability to put your mind at ease in any situation. Stress and anxiety have to do with expectation of the outcome. Replace expectation with intention, which creates non-attachment. For making progress, it's best to use a framework.
Gongs Not Goals:
Goals focus on outcomes which inherently create anxiety from doubt about achieving the end. A gong is a practice with intention. Focusing on practice brings enjoyment because it's in the present. Gongs create curiosity which is thought to be the driving force behind advancement in science and industry.
Create Your Own Motivation:
Curiosity is a powerful motivator, you are born with it and animals have it. It is primal. Curiosity depends on you not knowing for sure what the outcome will be. When you frame your gongfu practice (whatever it is) as "What can you do in 100 days?" you are setting yourself up for continual motivation.
